Since early childhood, Tokio was fascinated by airplanes. Young Tokio would sketch fictive airplanes and contribute his creation to magazines. His encounter with miniture battlership model came at the age of 44, from a posting on "Model Art" magazine. Ever since, Mr. Kawai's fascination and devotion for the love of miniture battleship models take place throughout his lifetime. His lifetime creation sums up to over 200 models. All works highly recognized as precise artifact amongst worldwide model fanatics. Mr. Kawai ends his life before completion of his lifework: 1/10 scale model of his beloved Battleship Yamato. |
